Business Rates in Ashburton set to Increase

At the October Chamber meeting Stuart Rogers from Ashburton Post Office raised the topic of business rates. Whilst the government has announced that it will increase relief on rates in 2017, the Valuation Office Agency (VOA) has performed a revaluation of rentable values and this will mean an increase in rates for some businesses. Stuart explained that many business premises in Ashburton had been previously undervalued and recommended that members review their rates and consider whether there needs to be a review.
